The wait is over and the first cinematic trailer for Spider-man: Homecoming is out. And it looks like Spidey will be going up against the villain Vulture (played by Michael Keaton) with a little help from Mr Tony Stark.
The film is rumoured to have three villains (something that didn’t work out well for the previous Spider-man films) and some Vulture toys that came out recently offer us a good view at Vulture’s fight gear.
The second villain, now confirmed, is the Shocker, played by Bokeem Woodbine.
Now the third villain in the movie is rumoured to be Orange is the New Black’s Michael Chernus, who was added to the Spider-Man: Homecoming cast later on. Now will he be playing a supervillain is unclear as the description provided for this role suggests that in all probability this will be just another guy in the life of Peter Parker, causing some trouble and having the potential to be a future villain.
“This third ‘villain’ is a non-super powered character who butts heads with Peter in his everyday life. He also may be the new someone Aunt May begins dating in the film, a guy that Peter does not approve of. Whether or not the guy is actually bad or it’s just Peter’s prejudices clouding his judgement remains to be seen. My bets are on a teacher who comes in, trying to fill in the father role he feels is lacking in Peter’s life.”
Seeing in this trailer, we have some NYC criminals using leftover tech from the chitauri (yep, those alien things that almost destroyed the earth in the Avengers movie) to rob ATMs. And based on that, it’s safe to assume that Michael is playing the Tinkerer– a genius who ‘tinkers’ with things, if I may put it this way.
The future trailers will tell us more about these villains and their roles in the movie. We just hope they don’t mess it up like it happened the last time.
But looks like Spidey will have no problem facing whoever steps up to him, with the help of Iron Man in this trailer.
Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into action on July 7, 2017.
